According
to City & Guilds (a London based vocational
institute), you're (probably) not the only unhappy
architect. In their 2004 Happiness Index,
Architects were the 29th and least happy profession,
behind such professions as butchers, bankers
and civil servants. If you're thinking of a
career switch, the whole index is:

Meanwhile
in the United States, architects aren't just
unhappy but they're also slowly disappearing.
According to a report from Architectural Record,
there are more architects dying than becoming
registered every year in California, the country's
biggest state. There are many legitimate reasons
for new graduates to put off getting their license,
something that more and more graduates realize
every year. The numbers cited by Architectural
Record are scary- in 1989 there were 1339 newly
licensed architects in California, while last
year the number dropped 70 percent down to only
398.
Go
to the City & Guilds site and think about
becoming a hairdresser before it's too damn
late
